From Ayatollah to Pope

Below you’ll find the letter (dated 23rd of September 2006,) of Ayatolah sayyed Hossein Khazemini Borojerdi, who according to himself commands the greatest independent religious constituency (Shiite Islam) in Iran. He writes to Pope about all the problems the so-called Islamic Republic has caused him and his followers, from emotional to physical torture. His father he says has been killed under suspicious circumstances in hospital after being pressured by the regime. Following his death, his mosque in which he’s preached for half a century has been expropriated and his grave site has been demolished and visitors to the cemetery have been arrested and tortured and currently no one can approach the site.
Of himself, a direct descendent of the prophet Mohammad, according to himself, he writes that in the past 14 years he has been under duress by the government, simply because he preaches separation of religion from government. His crime he says, is that he unveils the truth of Islam, which is the message of peace and compassion; his crime is that he offers a reading of Shiite Islam, whose ultimate leader woke his enemy from sleep and offered him a possibility of escape rather than to terrorize him.
Now that he is writing this letter, he says, he is on verge of being killed and it has been fifty days that his house has been surrounded by the government and a sentence of execution has been passed on him and his followers, and yet until now he has resisted, yet he expects a final assault on his house to culminate at any moment.
His last prayer ceremony, he says, based on evidences from all independent news sources has flooded all the neighboring streets and alleyways. Yet the state news agencies do not report on him and prevent outsiders to investigate the situation. He has appealed to the United Nations and other human rights organizations.
He expects these agencies and Pope to expose his plight to the world community.

    seen this?

I don’t participate in plottings against real and actual people with real and actual names conducted by a brand of cigarettes. Before doing secret cowardly activities such as “parvandesaazi” free your mind and publish your nonsense under your actual or real name - if you dare, you coward.

Open your eyes dude, seems you have been asleep for the past 29 yrs or so

  4. Amir Says:

Yes, I think Bambie told me the same thing. I think Marlboro Lights and Camel Filter also agree with you.

  5. "Chema" Says:

One of the problems with the nonsense that is published as “comment” above is that it discourages real exchanges on the actual matter at hand. I received the below comment from Chema as an email, but I think I’ll publish it because it is quite relevant and would hopefully lead somewhere fruitful…

Anyhow, wanted to ask you about that letter of Hossein Khazemini you published; does it have any credibility as far as the story goes and the identity of this guy? Around here, since 9/11 I guess but specially after the attacks in Madrid on 2003, the dichotomization of right and left is turning radically absurd. On the matter of religion leftists are pretty much lost in their hyper-tolerant arguments while the right-winged are imposing the most discriminative sort of discourse, both showing an embarrassing lack of knowledge of what and who are they talking about. Anyhow, one of the interesting questions I have heard lately is “where are the good Muslims?” -or “where is the moderate Islam?”. Khazemini’s letter is close to give an answer to that, and that’s why I ask you about the veracity of this guy’s story.

Whatever. This growing fear, even fear-to-offend, that is spreading in Europe is a very, very stupid thing. Stupid and scary. A very bad solution anyway in order to protect good-old democracy (have you heard about this Austrian opera that was self-cancelled fearing it might offend Muslims because at the end the main character shows the cut-heads of Mahoma, Christ and Buda among other God-representing figures?).

  6. Amir Says:

This guy goes by the name of Ayatollah Borojerdi actually, and while I’m not really into the whole Shiite thing, I think he is quite credible and what he says is right, also about his constituency.

Before Khamenei, the current supreme leader assumed that position, another mullah, Ayatollah Montazeri was groomed for the post, but as the time of his ascendency neared, it became obvious that he disagrees with the concept of “Velayate Faqih” which is the rule of the religious authorities. That is, he was the most qualified Shiite cleric to hold the job, but he disagreed with the doctrine saying that he wants religion and government separated. As a result of that the current Fuehrer, Khamenei was promoted over-night from a Hojjatoleslam to an Ayatollah and while there were many others in line, such as this Borojerdi’s dad, he was promoted as the leader by the Council of Guardians of the regime. This is what takes the religious legitimacy of the regime away, for while Khomeini, the first guy was in fact qualified to be in the position he was, although his doctrine of “Velayate Faqih” was not accepted by many scholars, this one, Khamenei, has not the necessary credentials.

Montazeri, the sometime heir apparant, spent all of the 90s under house arrest and now is too old to move. There are quite a number of mullahs in the predicament described above in the letter to Pope. I can think of the prayer leader of Esphahan, Iran’s second largest city, who quite several years ago, and retired himself, because he didn’t want to be tainted by the crimes of the regime.

One thing that must be kept in mind is that Iran always sounds the keynote when it comes to extremist Islam, so as long as this version of Islam is in power in Iran, you will not see many of the “good Muslims” or hear the sound of their voice.

About “offending” European holier-than-thou leftists must keep in mind that the whole thing about Shiite Islam is offending the Sunnis. Sunna means tradition, and Shia means breaking with it, offending it, criticizing it, arguing about it, offering various alternative readings etc. But by stooping down to the extremists, the goody-goody leftists actually support the right-most version of Islam in their dishonesty… I’ve always said, although I disagree with the extreme right wing Europeans, at least they are honest about their positions and don’t look down on Muslims as from another planet with altogether different rules and rites and customs completely contrary to common sense…

As for the Austrian opera, I wholeheartedly agree with Angela Merkel who warns about this sort of appeasement… see, this is why the right is in power, because the leftists again and again prove themselves to be hypocritical liars and incompetent losers.

So, yes, there is a good Islam, but by supporting Islam as it is now, no one, not the goody-goody leftists, nor the moderate Muslims will get anywhere. And the answer is only in unifying against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Once they are gone, everyone else will automatically fall in line, starting with Lebanon.

    Hope that helped.

Another one of these “good Muslims” who is under arrest is Khoeini. Read about him in Azarmehr’s blog, and follow the link he gives to his previous article on him too:

Italian Muslims Angered Over Dirty Bomber Love Story

The film is about two young Muslim lovers and a dirty bomb…

Italian Muslims are protesting a film about an Islamic Dirty Bomber love story saying it brings up images of Nazi propaganda:

An Italian film has sparked a debate in the Muslim community for its representation of Islam. ‘Il mercante di pietre’ (The Stone Merchant) by Italian filmmaker Renzo Martinelli (pictured below) “brings back to mind Nazi propaganda against the Jews,” accuses Dacia Valent, the spokesperson of the Islamic Anti-Defamation League, an Italian group. Her view is shared by the association of Young Muslims of Italy whose forum is full of messages comparing the movie to Nazi anti-Jewish propaganda.

    http://neparliamo.it/cinema/il_mercante_di_pietre.htm

The film released mid-September tells the story of an Italian convert to Islam (interpreted by Harvey Keitel) and Al-Qaeda member who seduces a woman (the actress Jane March) to use her as an unwitting suicide bomber on a ferry. As the story evolves the protagonist - who officially deals in precious stones - starts having doubts over his operation as he falls in love with the woman.

The movie is controversial as all the Muslims it portrays are terrorists.

At a recent press conference, Martinelli said his film was meant to “sound the alarm against multiculturalists who justify everything and are in favour of opening up Europe - all signs the Muslim world perceives as a weakness, taking advantage of us.” The filmmaker - who told reporters he goes around armed just in case some militant attacked him - added tha he “didn’t attack Muslims but tried to understand them.”

The film is currently running in Italian theatres.
